Attitude of Gratitude

Gratitude may just be one of the most powerful emotions we humans possess. It improves our heath, relieves stress, aids in productivity and is a key factor in successful careers. It strengthens relationships with our family and friends as well as ourselves, and makes us happier humans overall. The more we focus on all the blessings in our life, little or small, the more there is to be grateful for.
Basically everyday we are handed a plate of situations, and we decide how we are going to react to them. Some of us live life in a relatively constant state of positivity while others view everything quite negatively. Whichever you choose will define the course and quality of your life.
A really great, simple way to get on the gratitude train and elevate your perspective of life is to make a list of all the things you are grateful for. I’m a big proponent of this. If I’m feeling down, I pull out my journal and start jotting down my blessings.
I’ll write everything down from the obvious like my family and friends, my body, my job, my house, to things we tend to take for granted but owe a great deal to on the daily, like refrigerators and stoves, air conditioning, toilets, the sun, the moon, the trees, and so on. It seriously works. All of a sudden everywhere I look, I’m covered in blessings. I remember how beautiful my life is.
But we can do this even when we're already in a good mood! Imagine if we started every day bringing awareness to our blessings and cultivating an attitude of deep appreciation for all we have in life right now. We'd set ourselves up for a more fulfilling and purposeful life.
So in the spirit of gratitude, here are three things I’m most thankful for today:
Connor>>
My angel baby. I’m so grateful for his health and happiness and the amazing amount of joy he has brought to my life.
Sean>>
My love. He’s so supportive, caring, and grounded. I’m so grateful to be going through life with such a wonderful man by my side.
My Yoga Practice>>
My quality of life has drastically improved from a daily yoga practice. I’m so grateful for the teachings and wisdom of yoga, and for my healthy, able body!
Ahhhh. I’m feeling better already. :)
