3 Easy Ways to a Healthier You

Hey Yogis,

I think we all know there is no fast track to health and wellness. It takes daily dedication to make healthy decisions for our body and mind. When embarking on the journey toward health, it's best to take baby steps. We're much more likely to see amazing results by making one or two small, easy improvements at a time rather than overwhelming ourselves by jumping in headfirst. If we want to bring about solid change, we simply need to plant the seeds, water them daily, and in due time our life will blossom.

1. Sole water.

Hydration is a key ingredient in overall health. We need to water ourselves properly. Surprisingly, just drinking a bunch of water isn't actually enough. So every morning, drink sole water. Sole water is simply really concentrated salt water.

Here's what you need to make it:

1 mason jar

Celtic sea salt

Directions:

Fill the mason jar roughly a third of the way with your sea salt. Then fill the rest of the jar with filtered drinking water. Cap the jar and place in a cool, dry area like a kitchen cabinet. Let it sit over night. When you wake up in the morning, you'll notice most of the salt has dissolved into the water. You want a bit of the salt to still be on the bottom of the jar - this way you know the water is completely saturated. (If absolutely all the salt has dissolved into the water, just add more salt and check again the next day.)

And voila! You have sole water! Add a teaspoon or so to a tall glass of water once each morning. You can also add the juice of one lemon into the mix for extra wellness and hydration.

2. Watch the sunrise.

Actually take the time to go outside and witness it. (And if being up that early is out of the cards for you, at least spend fifteen minutes or more in the sun every day.) The sun is so healing for us. By spending time outside to watch the sun rise every morning, we can become more connected to nature and develop a deeper appreciation for life. Yoga means Union, and part of the yogi's path is realizing one's intrinsic connection to the Earth and nurturing it. Spending time in the sun increases serotonin levels in our brain, enhancing our mood, energy, and ability to focus. It also gives us a healthy dose of vitamin d, which strengthens our immune system and regulates the absorption of calcium into our bones.

3. Give thanks.

Health takes into account the whole person. You could be a complete health nut who's life revolves around workouts, supplements, and balanced meals, but if you aren't happy, you will not feel healthy. Health is a holistic practice, and that means we need to heal the person as well as the body. One very simple way to enhance health and happiness in your life is to show gratitude. There are many ways to go about showing gratitude - here's an easy one: write a list of people, things, or places that bring you happiness and fill you up with love. Bring it with you wherever you go and look at it frequently. Add to it whenever you're inspired. Spend more time involved in the people, places, and things you write down. Go to bed saying Thank You, wake up saying Thank You. There is always something to be grateful for.

There you have it! Three very simple things to include in your daily routine to begin enhancing your physical, mental, and spiritual health. I wish only the best for you. Blessings!

For love, with love.
